Bavaro Princess vacation packages - all in one and go!
You can't get much more 'away from it all' than Bavaro. Located on the eastern tip of the island and reached by winding country roads bordered by corn fields and mangrove thickets, this quiet and picturesque resort rewards you for every minute of the rather long journey. From the moment you get an eyeful of that amazing 15-mile-long white sand beach and brilliant blue sea you'll know you've found a little corner of Holiday Heaven. But don't expect much else. The nightlife is not just 'low key', it's almost non-existent, so you need to be prepared to make the most of the facilities at your hotel. Similarly, shopping is confined to the odd mini-market and a few small tourist shops, selling jewellery, local handicrafts and beachware. As for daytime entertainment, it mostly revolves around sunbathing and watersports, although there are a few interesting places to visit in the local area, including the Manati Ecological Park, where you can swim with dolphins and immerse yourself in local culture at the reconstructed Taino village. It's also worth making a pilgrimage inland to the historic town of Higuey, famous for the magnificent altar in the elaborate Shrine of the Virgin. In essence, though, Bavaro, is a place to sit back, feel the warmth of the Caribbean sun and enjoy a generous dose of the famous Dominican 'R and R': rum and relaxation. |
